Two people had been stabbed on Friday near the previous places of work of the Charlie Hebdo satirical journal in Paris that was attacked by Islamist militants over 5 years in the past, a police supply stated.

One of the victims was badly injured however had no life-threatening harm, the supply stated.

Earlier on Friday Prime Minister Jean Castex had stated that 4 people had been stabbed, and police stated a suspect had been arrested.

“I was in my office. I heard screams in the road. I looked out of the window and saw a woman who was lying on the floor and had taken a whack in the face from what was possibly a machete,” a witness advised Europe 1 radio.

“I saw a second neighbour on the floor and I went to help.”

Paris police stated one individual had been arrested near the Bastille opera home.

One police supply stated a machete had been discovered on the scene. Another police sources stated a meat cleaver had been discovered there.

Local authorities requested people to keep away from the realm and stated a police operation was below manner in a northeastern district of Paris. Deputy mayor Emmanuel Gregoire tweeted that police had been searching a “potentially dangerous” particular person.

The Paris metro closed traces in the realm.

Fourteen people went on trial in Paris on September 2, accused of being accomplices in the assault on the Charlie Hebdo places of work in January 2015 that killed 12 people.
