The Income Tax (IT) Department has provisionally hooked up about 11 acres of land owned by V N Sudhakaran, the nephew of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s shut aide V Ok Sasikala, in Siruthavoor village close to right here below the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act.

The division additionally reportedly hooked up the properties of Sasikala and her family in Kodanad close to Ooty.


However, IT officers declined to remark when contacted for confirming the event.

In the order provisionally attaching the 11 acre 53 cents land owned by Sudhakaran, the IT Department has mentioned the motion is being taken to forestall him from transferring the property to a different individual.

As per the provisional attachment order, Sudhakaran is restrained from transferring or charging the properties till additional orders.

Sasikala, Sudhakaran and one other of her family Illavarasi are in a Bengaluru jail after being convicted in a corruption case.

A duplicate of the provisional order attaching Sudhakaran’s property in Siruthavoor has been despatched to J Deepak and J Deepa, Jayalalihtaa’s nephew and niece, respectively.

In August this 12 months, the IT Department is claimed to have hooked up 65 properties of Sasikala and her associates.

In 2017, the IT Department had raided 187 properties mentioned to be linked to Sasikala and her family and unearthed alleged tax evasion of about Rs 1,430 crore.
