Mumbai:
Senior BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis on Friday demanded that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announce a moist drought in Maharashtra as a consequence of crop harm from heavy rains and start the method of offering aid to the affected.
In a letter to Thackeray, Mr Fadnavis mentioned the retreating monsoon had triggered heavy rainfall in Marathwada, western Maharashtra and components of Vidarbha, leading to huge crop harm over hundreds of hectares.
“The Thackeray government should declare wet drought so that farmers, who have suffered heavily due to loss of crops, can get relief,” the chief of opposition within the state Assembly mentioned.
