Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Saturday mentioned he would resign from politics if there’s any iota of reality within the corruption allegations levelled towards his son B Y Vijayendra, who can be BJP state vice chairman.

Yediyurappa’s outburst was towards chief of opposition Siddaramaiah’s allegation throughout the no-confidence movement, moved by the Congress veteran towards the BJP authorities, that Vijayendra took bribe from a Bangalore improvement authority contractor.

The cost was primarily based on a sting operation by a Kannada information channel alleging that the contractor who bagged a Rs 666 crore undertaking had paid crores of rupees by means of RTGS to Vijayendra. “If there is an iota of truth that my family is involved, then I will resign from politics. If it is wrong then you resign. You should be ashamed of making baseless allegations,” Yediyurappa mentioned.

He challenged Siddaramaiah to show the cost and lodge a criticism with the Lokayukta and the Anti-Corruption Bureau. The Chief Minister mentioned that Siddaramaiah was referring to a person who was not a member of the House.

Pandemonium broke out following the allegation with BJP members slamming Siddaramaiah for his accusation. Soon Congress MLAs jumped to Siddaramaiah’s defence.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy intervened and mentioned the contractor, whom Siddaramaiah accused of paying bribe, has registered a case towards the tv channel. Not satisfied with the reply, Siddaramaiah mentioned he referred to the person’s title as a result of it was within the public area put up by the tv channel.

“Let there be a fair inquiry,” Siddaramaiah mentioned.
